On April 10th, 2023, the Department of Law held a seminar on Abortion ‘Abortion: Philosophy, Legal, Medical, Sharia Law Viewpoints’. Abortion remains a contentious topic in many societies, with debates arising from legal, religious, moral, ethical, practical, and political perspectives. Although prohibited and restricted by law in several jurisdictions, abortions continue as a widespread practice in many regions, even in places where they are considered illegal.
The issues surrounding abortion are complex and multifaceted, with individuals often holding strong beliefs informed by their religious, ethical, or cultural traditions. As a result, determining appropriate abortion policies can be challenging for governments and policymakers, who must balance the need to respect individual rights with concerns for public health and societal values.
