Medical laboratory Analysis (MLA) is an important part of health – care system. It is playing a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases. This department was established in 2019-2020. It is a four-year program covering the major areas of clinical laboratory analysis: (hematology, microbiology, biochemistry, histopathology, virology and immunology). At the end the program prepares specialists who are competent in performing and interpreting a wide variety of laboratory tests used in hospitals, clinics, and research laboratories.
The department strategies are to graduate medical laboratory technologists with basic and advanced diagnostic techniques that are provide clinical information to physicians, pathologists, researchers, and other healthcare services.
This program prepares students to perform accurate diagnostic laboratory testing across hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and immunology. Students gain hands-on experience with laboratory instruments, quality control procedures, and specimen handling. Graduates play a vital role in supporting clinical diagnosis and patient care in hospitals and diagnostic centers.
Graduates will be able to:
- Perform clinical laboratory tests accurately across hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and immunology.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment safely.
- Apply quality control and quality assurance procedures in laboratory testing.
- Collect, handle, and process biological specimens correctly.
- Interpret laboratory results to support clinical diagnosis.
- Apply biosafety and infection control standards in laboratory settings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of pathophysiology relevant to laboratory diagnostics.
- Use laboratory information systems for data management and reporting.
- Apply ethical and professional standards in medical laboratory practice.
- Engage in continuous learning to keep pace with advances in diagnostic technology.
