English Department Hosts 3rd Student Exhibition (Grammatically Correct: A Poster Presentation Event)
The 1st of April Mr Hawar K. Mustafa presented a seminar entitled “The Notion of Idol in both Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty Four and Qabani’s Antara”
The aim of literature is to visualize Iife, illustrate all its predicaments. Qabani in his poem Antara and Orwell in his novel nineteen eighty four show how totalitarian regimes suppress it’s individuals and enslave them for the sake of their benefits. The two texts are very much alike, for instance, in both texts there is a phantom who controls every conceivable angle of the life of its inhabitants. Fear, oppression and dehumanization are present in both. Such sort of totalitarian system are the source of the melancholy in which so many primitive nations are live in.
