The College of Health Science at Cihan University- Sulaimaniya hosted a successful international workshop on Saturday, May 6, 2023, focused on postgraduate study and job opportunities in the field of Medical Microbiology. Two renowned guests were invited to speak at the conference: Dr. Shadi Khodamoradi, Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from Helmholtz Center for infection research in Germany, and Dr. Keveh Naseri, a Ph.D. student from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia.
Dr. Shadi Khodamoradi highlighted the importance of Medical Microbiology in healthcare systems and the immense potential of further research in this field. Based on her experience and knowledge, she offered advice on postgraduate education, funding options, and job opportunities available in this field. Dr. Shadi also emphasized the importance of strong English language proficiency for postgraduate studies and job opportunities in Medical Microbiology. She highlighted that an adequate command of the language is essential for understanding the fundamentals of the discipline, engaging in conversations with peers and mentors, taking part in conferences and seminars, and competing for available positions in the field.
Dr. Naseri discussed the challenges faced in his postgraduate study in Medical Microbiology and the strategies he used to overcome them. Dr. Kaveh discussed the importance of self-preparation and motivation when it comes to postgraduate studies in the field of Medical Microbiology. He shared his experiences and strategies used to stay motivated during her postgraduate studies. These included setting goals, making a plan and breaking it down into achievable tasks, seeking advice from mentors and peers, and staying connected with the latest research trends in the field.
Overall, the international workshop was successful in providing an informative platform for attendees to gain knowledge and insights into postgraduate study and job opportunities in Medical Microbiology.
