Instructors and programmer managers do their best to create healthy learning environments in basic design studios, addressing the needs of different students with different abilities—including first-year students in architectural education, who face many challenges. Architectural students are in need of motivation mainly due to the fact that they are going through a transition from high school to university life, but also because they are candidates for a profession that strives to create public awareness and respect for the profession. Therefore, one of the first-year instructors’ responsibilities is motivating in both intrinsic and extrinsic way. As a consequence, this seminar will lunch the key-points to how motivate first-year architectural students by their instructors.
