On September 4th, 2024, Dr. Asen Bakir Kanber delivered a seminar on “Modern Computer Graphics” at Cihan University Sulaimaniya. The session provided a comprehensive introduction to computer graphics, covering its history, applications, and essential concepts like pixels, resolution, and coordinate systems.
Dr. Asen explained the differences between raster and vector graphics, and how the graphics pipeline transforms 3D models into 2D images. He highlighted the importance of linear algebra in manipulating graphical objects and explored 2D and 3D techniques like transformations, shading models, and texture mapping.
Advanced topics such as ray tracing and surface tessellation were also discussed, providing participants with a solid foundation in both the theory and practical aspects of modern computer graphics. The seminar underscored the relevance of graphics in various industries, offering valuable insights to all attendees.
