Student Activity: Toward a More Sustainable Campus through Innovative Design and Practical Application
On November 16, 2024, a national workshop titled Toward a More Sustainable Campus was organized to discuss the further development of sustainable initiatives, particularly in universities. The workshop was conducted by Assistant Lecturer Barham Abdul from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University Sulaymaniyah and hosted Assistant Professor Dr. Chro Ali from Sulaymaniyah Polytechnic University. The event engaged participants in discussions on the theoretical and practical aspects of sustainability in an educational context.
The focus of the workshop was on incorporating sustainability concepts into campus development, construction, and management. Participants debated how these ideas could be implemented to make university environments more sustainable and energy-efficient in line with global standards. By emphasizing key aspects of sustainability, the event aimed to transform Cihan University into a model of environmental stewardship and improve its position in global university sustainability rankings.
The event reflected the organizers’ commitment to promoting sustainable practices within educational institutions and other organizations.
