On 14th February 2023, the Medical Microbiology Department in the College of Health Science at Cihan University Sulaymaniyah held an event for Lasé Khasraw a second-stage student on NATIONAL DONOR DAY.
This presentation aimed to raise awareness about organ donation and how it’s possible for you to save up to 8 lives while you’re alive and that you don’t need to be dead to donate an organ.
During the presentation, she talked about what organ donation is and how the process is done, how an organ donation can save lives. The advantages and disadvantages of organ donation were explained. Further, the seminar focused on variances among different donors and their fitness for organ donation.
The people who suffer from various diseases and cannot donate organs are people that have cancer, HIV &, and unusual infections like SARS. The differences between a donated organ of a living person and a dead person are also explained. The different tests and screenings have been taken for the organs and the donor/ recipient was taken into consideration. Furthermore, the requirements for donation in Islam were observed.
