The Department of Medical Microbiology was established in 2021-2022 within the College of Health Sciences, Cihan University-Sulaimaniya. Medical Microbiology is considered one of the main fields of the basic Medical Sciences which has a major role in the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases. It is our responsibility to build well-educated trainees in the field to build a healthy society for now and future generations. There is a bachelor’s program in the Department of Medical Microbiology now. The duration of undergraduate study is four years and granted a bachelor’s degree in Medical Microbiology. The programs of the department qualify the students to prepare graduates to work in clinical laboratories in hospitals, clinics, industry, and research laboratories. It provides a didactic and clinical experience that enables the student to work in the whole subfields of Medical Microbiology including Virology, Bacteriology, and Parasitology.
