Student Activity: Toward a More Sustainable Campus through Innovative Design and Practical Application
On May 15, 2024, the Department of Architecture Engineering at the University of Sulaymaniyah presented the final submissions for the design project by the second-stage students, supervised by Assistant Lecturer Mr. Barham Abdul and Research Assistant Raz Rzgar.h
The students designed a kindergarten and nursery, with the kindergarten including spaces such as KG1-2 classrooms, a teachers’ room, a pool, a multipurpose hall, a playground, a music and art room, and a library with all the required services. For the nursery, the design included spaces such as a teachers’ room, bedrooms for 1-2 and 3-4 year-olds, an art and music room, and a library with all the required services.
The project’s location is near Ibrahim Pasha Street. In this project, more emphasis is placed on sustainability for the building by using techniques and different aspects of sustainability, such as the reuse of rainwater and solar energy, and a green roof. After a lot of effort and hard work, the students made many different inventions in their project very efficiently and skillfully.
