On 12th of August, Cihan University Slemani participated in International Youth Day held by a number of Civil Society Organisations. Cihan University Slemani was represented by Mr Hemen Rasheed Agha, Director of Quality Assurance. International Youth Day events and celebrations aim to promoting a heightened awareness of problems and challenges faced by the youth. A number of issues, problems, challenges are raised every year regarding a specific issue that needs discussion and treatment. Many countries celebrate the International Youth Day every year on August 12, where a topic related to youth is considered every year that is focused and discussed, and sports, cultural and musical celebrations are held, in addition to theatrical performances, and many effective activities are carried out on the date. The United Nations General Assembly, in its meeting held on December 17, 1999 AD Resolution No. 120/54, decided that the International Youth Day would be the twelfth of August. It will be declared as an International Youth Day, as a practical result of the recommendation made by the World Conference of Responsible Ministers of the World’s Youth, which was held in Lisbon on 8-12 August 1998 AD. It was decided by the United Nations that media activities should be organized to support this day , so that these activities are easy to promote awareness and interest in the International Program of Action for Youth, presented by the General Assembly in its resolution 50:81 of 1996 AD Youth The importance of World Youth Day is the annual celebration of the role of young women and men, as indispensable partners in promoting development and the development of human rights, as well as considering this day as an opportunity through which to raise awareness of the difficulties as well as the challenges faced by the youth of the world today.
