Scientific Trip: Visit to DUKAN-2 Water Treatment Plant
Report on “Embedded system Course”
In cooperation with UrukTech for Electronics, the Cihan University of Sulimaniyah has established an intensive course “on embedded system “for students and lecturers from different universities. The course started on 11 of March with total hours 24, the course was under the supervision of Mr.Bilal Al Mubdir. The course consisted of theoretical and practical aspects with short assignments and quizzes. Where the course was as follow:
Day One:
- Introduction to online examination system
- Introduction to electrical signal and digital signal
- Introduction to embedded system
- Introduction to microcontroller
- Introduction to Arduino programming and Arduino IDE
Day Two:
- Introduction to data type
- Arduino first program (blinking an LED)
- Implementing an external circuit for Arduino blinking LEDs
- Blinking two LEDs
- Design, implementing and programming an Arduino system that controls an LED using a pushbutton.
- Using a pushbutton to control the blinking rate of two LEDs.
Day Three:
- Introduction to analog INPUT command
- Introduction to PWM (pulse with modulation)
- Controlling the brightness level of an LED by using potentiometer
- Introduction to drivers
- Controlling time blinking rate of two LEDs by using potentiometer
- Quiz and assignment
Day Four:
- Types of sensors
- Build simple circuit for object detection sensor using Arduino UNO
- Types of motors
- Controlling a Servo motor
- Library function of Servo motor and how to use those library in application
Day Five
- Introduction to communication in embedded system
- Serial port communication protocol
- Serial port commands
- Sending data from Arduino by using serial port
- Sending data to Arduino by using serial port
- Controlling lighting based on light intensity using relays
Day Six
- Where the final exam was consist of two part :
- Part one was design and programming two circuits using circuit board and Arduino IDE.
- Part two was about online exam where each participant used his username and password to login into online exam system.

1-The course instructor was by lecturer Mr. Bilal AlMubdir.
2- Two visitors attend the course from outside Cihan campus as bellow:
