Cihan University Sulaimaniya has utilised its expertise to advance educational programs aimed at enhancing the quality of education in Sulaimaniya Schools. On Monday, September 4th, 2023, Cihan University convened with various organizations and stakeholders to deliberate on the implementation of specialized programs geared towards improving the educational standards of Girda Spee and Kobani Schools. The outcome of this meeting was the formation of the Non-Formal Education Taskforce, which will leverage its expertise to assist these schools in building and enhancing the skills and capabilities of their staff to deliver optimal teaching methods.
Mr. Hemen Rasheed Agha, an Assist Lecturer at Cihan University Sulaimaniya and a lecturer of public law at the Department of Law, participated to address the meeting and provide valuable insights to guide the direction and the path forward for launching the Education Advancement Initiative.
The discussed topics during this meeting encompassed a wide range of themes and subjects, including but not limited to the best teaching practices, inclusive education processes, education system dynamics, various types of education, addressing student discrimination, fostering teamwork, accommodating diverse learning styles, effective classroom management techniques, hands-on learning approaches, training assessment, participatory classroom methodologies, utilizing games as pedagogical tools, active teaching methods, and comprehensive training evaluation.
The overarching objective of this project is to develop an array of educational initiatives and programs designed to elevate the quality of education in the aforementioned schools. These initiatives are being administered in collaboration with several prominent French organizations and federations, including France Libertés – Fondation Danielle Mitterrand, Fédération Léo Lagrange, Douleurs Sans Frontières, with facilitation provided by the Public Aid Organization (PAO).

Its mission is to promote human rights and foster the establishment of a robust civil society in alignment with the United Nations Third Millennium Declaration.
The Léo Lagrange Federation is widely represented across the country through its regional associations and training institutes. These entities play a pivotal role in popular education at the regional level, offering a comprehensive range of activities that contribute to education, training, and integration efforts. The Léo Lagrange Federation is recognized as a public utility and actively supports public entities in the implementation of educational, socio-cultural, and integration policies. As a popular education movement, it champions educational projects that prioritize “Education populaire” (non-formal education), emphasizing values such as solidarity, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing, which are essential for fostering harmonious coexistence.
The responsibilities assigned to members of the Non-Formal Education Taskforce include active participation in all meetings, the sharing of pertinent information related to their activities, and involvement in the decision-making and planning processes aimed at addressing the educational needs of the schools.
