Department of Computer Science is one of the important departments at Cihan University – Sulaimaniya. It was established in 2011 since the foundation of the university. It is concerned with theoretical and practical methods of processing and communicating information by means of computers. The period of study at the Department of Computer is four years. Graduates are awarded the degree of the Bachelor of Computer Science. Our department continues to stress on the quality of education, and Faculty Members. The department has a qualified academic staff in the most important areas in computer science. Modern laboratories and classrooms are well-equipped.
The Department of Computer Science prepares students to design, develop, and manage software and computing systems that solve real-world problems. The program combines strong theoretical foundations in programming, algorithms, and systems with hands-on training in emerging technologies such as AI and data science. Graduates are equipped to innovate, adapt, and lead in a fast-changing digital industry.
Graduates will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of mathematics, computing, and science to solve complex computing problems.
- Design, implement, and evaluate software systems, components, and processes to meet specified requirements.
- Analyze and design algorithms and data structures for efficient problem-solving.
- Use modern programming languages, tools, and development environments effectively.
- Understand networking, database systems, and information security principles.
- Apply project management principles in the design and development of computing solutions.
- Function effectively as an individual and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Recognize professional, ethical, legal, and social responsibilities in computing practice.
- Engage in lifelong learning to keep pace with rapidly evolving technology.
- Apply artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven techniques to develop innovative computing solutions.
