On January 22 and January 25, 2025, the fourth-stage students of the Architectural Engineering Department at Cihan University Sulaymaniyah embarked on a scientific trip to two renowned hotels in Sulaimaniya—Rotana Hotel and Titanic Hotel. The trip was part of their academic coursework for the “Design” lecture and aimed to familiarize students with the design and functionality of luxury hotels. This hands-on experience will directly contribute to their proposal for a five-star hotel project, a key component of their semester’s curriculum.
Supervised by the teaching staff of the Architectural Engineering Department, the students explored the architectural features, spatial organization, and operational aspects of these prestigious hotels. By studying real-world examples of five-star hospitality designs, the students gained valuable insights into the intricacies of creating efficient, aesthetically pleasing, and functional spaces that cater to the needs of guests and staff alike.
During the visit, students observed critical design elements such as lobby layouts, room configurations, service areas, and public spaces, emphasizing how each element contributes to the overall guest experience. This practical exposure allowed them to connect theoretical principles learned in the classroom with real-life applications, enhancing their understanding of luxury hotel design.
The scientific trip underscores the department’s commitment to providing experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for the challenges of architectural practice. Through such initiatives, Cihan University Sulaimaniya continues to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional expertise, ensuring that its students are well-equipped for successful careers in architecture.
