On October 2, 2024, the third-stage students of the Architectural Engineering Department at Cihan University Sulaymaniyah participated in a scientific trip to Dukan as part of their ongoing coursework in the “Design” lecture. The trip was organized to help students select a suitable site for their “Residential Housing Complex” project, a core component of their academic program.
Supervised by the department’s teaching staff, the students examined various environmental and geographical factors that influence the site selection for large-scale residential housing projects. The field trip provided a unique opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge from their design lectures to real-world conditions, enhancing their skills in site evaluation, spatial planning, and urban integration.
By visiting Dukan, the students were able to analyze critical aspects of the site, such as topography, access routes, and the surrounding environment, which are essential for proposing sustainable and efficient housing solutions. This hands-on experience is a vital part of their architectural education, allowing students to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical application.
The Architectural Engineering Department at Cihan University Sulaymaniyah regularly organizes such scientific trips to promote experiential learning, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their future roles as architects.
