On October 2, 2024, the fourth-stage students of the Architectural Engineering Department at Cihan University Sulaymaniyah embarked on a scientific trip to Faruk Medical City (FMC) as part of their academic curriculum. The visit was integral to their project on “General Hospital Design,” a core component of their Design lecture.
Supervised by the department’s teaching staff, the students had the opportunity to explore the various architectural and functional aspects of a large-scale medical facility. During the trip, students observed key hospital design principles, including spatial organization, circulation systems, patient flow, and the integration of medical technology within the facility’s layout.
This experience allowed students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by studying the design challenges and solutions used in one of the region’s leading healthcare institutions. It offered them a real-world perspective on hospital design, preparing them to address complex architectural requirements in healthcare facilities.
Such field trips provide essential hands-on learning experiences that enhance students’ understanding of architectural design, contributing to both their academic growth and future professional careers as architects.
