Computer Science Department Students Participate in “Girl and Technology 2024” Event
On Sunday, December 8, 2024, Dr. Lway Faisal, the Head of the Computer Science Department, delivered an insightful seminar titled “Cihan University in the International Ranking.” The seminar provided an in-depth exploration of the key criteria used by three major international ranking systems: Webometrics, GreenMetric, and Times Higher Education.
Dr. Lway elaborated on the unique methodologies and evaluation metrics employed by these systems, highlighting their emphasis on aspects such as institutional visibility, sustainability initiatives, research output, and alignment with global academic standards. A significant portion of the seminar focused on actionable strategies for improving the university’s standing in these rankings.
These included enhancing the quality and quantity of publications, fostering international collaboration, and strengthening the university’s contribution to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Lway emphasized that achieving higher scores requires a coordinated effort across administrative departments, with a focus on sustainable practices, impactful research, and digital presence.
