On Saturday, April 27th, 2024, the 3rd class of the Medical Microbiology Department at the College of Health Sciences – Cihan University-Sulaimaniya, went on a scientific trip to Bahar Factory. The visit was organized under the supervision of Dr. Selar Shawkat Izzat and Miss Niga Aram Jalal, the lab assistant, with the aim of enhancing students’ understanding of techniques and processes related to producing different types of naturally fermented vinegars, distillation of organic and pure oils from various locally grown herbs and fruits.
The visit was to expose students to methodologies used in the production and extraction of various functional foods that have a high impact on human health. The students were given a comprehensive overview of the production process, various laboratory tests for detecting and controlling the quality of the products, focusing on the beneficial aspects of the products from natural fruits for human health in comparison to chemically manufactured ones.
