On April 22, 2024, the 3rd class of the Medical Laboratory Analysis and Medical Microbiology Departments at the College of Health and Science, Cihan University-Sulaimanya, embarked on a scientific trip to Harem Private Hospital. This educational excursion, led by Assistant Lecturer Mr. Karokh Ali Khdir and lab assistant Mrs. Niga, aimed to enhance students’ understanding of practical virology and diagnostic techniques related to viral diseases. The primary objective of the visit was to familiarize students with common methodologies used in viral testing and diagnostics within a professional clinical laboratory setting. Throughout the visit, students received a comprehensive introduction to the hospital’s laboratory procedures, with a specific focus on a wide range of viral tests. These included the application of Immunochromatographic tests (Rapid tests), Immunosorbent assays (ELISA), and sophisticated instruments such as COBAS and MINI VIDAS for the detection and diagnosis of viral pathogens. Ultimately, the trip sought to provide students with hands-on experience and practical insights into the application of advanced diagnostic tools and techniques in medical virology, thereby enhancing their practical knowledge and skills in this field.
