Student Activity: Toward a More Sustainable Campus through Innovative Design and Practical Application
On 26th of February, 2023, the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University- Sulaimaniya organized a Workshop titled Understanding Tendering and Cost Estimation in Engineering Projects: A Focus on KRG.
The organizers of the national workshop were Assist. Lec. Diyari Burhan Hussein, Architectural Engineering at Cihan University- Sulaimaniya, Assist. Lec. Twana Abdulla, from the Department of Civil Engineering at Halabja University, Mr. Awder Omer Ali, Founder and Director of BIM Space Iraq, Sulaimaniya.
The workshop’s main purpose is to introduce the initial stages of engineering, especially for the students after graduation, and provide general information about project management, especially the tendering stages and the provisions. The workshop discusses the tendering process in Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), feasibility studying and understanding the estimation process as an essential skill for engineers, and how cost breakdown is performed.
The main reason for choosing this topic was the lack of information for the students and engineers after graduation about the cost estimation and tendering process, which are essential for their carrier.
