On 21st Dec 2022, the College of Health Sciences of Cihan University – Sulaymaniyah held a joint workshop with the Department of History, College of Humanities of Sulaimani University titled The Role of Memory and Oral History in Writing History – The Dimension of Health in the New Revolution 1976 – 1991 as an example.
From Sulaimani University, Prof. Hiwa Aziz Saeed, Professor of History, College of Humanities, Sulaimani University, and M.Y. Goran Salam Mohammed, Professor of World University, Sulaymaniyah, participated as speakers in the workshop.
Participants discussed the role of memory and oral history in writing history and explained the health dimensions of the subject, as outlined in the book Health Dimensions in the New Revolution 1976-1991, Volume I. Subsequently, the presenters also analyzed the importance of the role of doctors and health workers during military operations, their role in treating the wounded of wars, and the importance and role of the Kurdistan Health Agency and its stages of work and the Kurdistan Emergency Association.
Finally, the participants discussed the important role of the revolutionary hospitals in the liberated areas throughout the 1980s.
